How to Create a Compelling Investor Pitch? Urban Mobile Robotics workshop 18.5.2026 18.5.2026
Do you know how to think like an investor? Can you secure funding for your projects?
The barrier for many technological innovations isn’t a poor product, but rather a message that fails to meet investor expectations. The Urban Mobile Robotics project is organizing a workshop where we move from theory to practice: you will learn how to build a convincing pitch deck for investors and navigate the jungle of public funding.
In this workshop, companies will get to draft an investor pitch deck and public funding applications under the guidance of Lauri Kokkila (Inventure.VC) and Antti Liljaniemi (Metropolia).
Programme:
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: The Winning Investor Pitch Deck
About the speaker: Lauri is one of the most trusted investors in the Nordics, with a portfolio featuring success stories like Swappie and Umbra (acquired by Amazon).
What you’ll learn: How to build a presentation that sparks investor interest.
Content: The investor mindset, packaging your product and vision, and the practicalities of various funding instruments (direct investments, convertible bonds, etc.).
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Public Funding and Project Collaboration, Speaker: Antti Liljaniemi, Metropolia.
About the speaker: As the head of Robo Garage, Antti is an experienced expert at the interface of public funding channels and corporate collaboration. His team has co-developed hundreds of projects with various companies.
What you’ll learn: Where to find public funding and how to align your company's goals with the funder's criteria.
Content: Strategies for funding applications, projects led by Metropolia, and utilizing Robo Garage resources to support your company's growth.
Why participate?
You won’t just get "death by PowerPoint"—you’ll receive direct feedback and concrete tools. Improve your application success rate and learn to speak the language of investors.
Note: Due to space limitations, attendance is restricted to one person per company. This event is most beneficial for companies currently planning or undergoing a funding round.
Urban Mobile Robotics -hankkeen ja Metropolian Robo Garagen tilaisuudessa esiteltiin miten uusia ratkaisuja voidaan testata käytännössä ennen laajempia investointeja tai rahoitushakuja. Esimerkkeinä kuultiin inspiroivia ja käytännönläheisiä yrityscaseja ideasta onnistuneeseen rahoitukseen. Tapahtumassa tutustuttiin myös rakenteilla olevaan Scale Down -hankkeen mobiilirobotiikan testausalustaan. Rahoitusaiheinen ohjelma päättyi pizzabuffet-lounaaseen ja rentoon verkostoitumiseen.

Mistä löytyy tukea palvelun pilotointiin? Miten valmistaudutaan ensimmäisiin merkittäviin investointeihin, ja kuinka rahoitetaan hyppy kansainvälisille markkinoille?
ERKKI- ja Urban Mobile Robotics -hankkeet järjestivät yhteisen rahoitusinfon, jossa pureuduttiin näihin kysymyksiin käytännönläheisesti. Emme tarjoilleet vain teoriaa, vaan kävimme esimerkkien kautta läpi eri rahoituslähteitä yrityksesi elinkaaren eri vaiheissa.

The participants discussed the challenges provided by City of Helsinki and how to solve them. We managed to reduce the list of 12 into three main challenges that we will continue working on in the next stage of the project. During the workshop, the participants were also introduced to Metropolia’s Robo Garage workshop.

The event included information about the new Urban Mobile Robotics project and the possibilities it provides for partner companies, a demonstration of our new aerial, ground and underwater robots, networking, and an innovations workshop.
